XAS Tutorials ifeffit (Athena, Artemis) Installation (rev 2006.03) Ifeffit is free (http://cars9.uchicago.edu/ifeffit) and comes with the graphical user interfaces (GUIs) Athena (for data processing and reduction) and Artemis (for curve-fitting). This protocol describes installation of this package on a Windows system; this is current as of 2006.03.10. On the webpage noted above, click on Get the latest version to bring up the Download Page:
Either Windows Installer package can be selected. As usual, you will have to confirm the security of the download and choose to run the .exe file. Then the Ifeffit Setup Wizard will start
Assuming you chose to create desktop shortcuts, you should see shortcuts for Artemis, Athena, Hephaestus, and SixPack. Also, under Start | All Programs, there will be a new program folder called ifeffit where all these programs and other documents and programs can be found (right). For example, in the ifeffit Documents folder are instruction manuals, linked from an html page. You can also find the documentation online at http://cars9.uchicago.edu/~ravel/software/docs.html. The ifeffit program suite has an auto-update feature, so the first time you open Artemis, you may be alerted to new updates; you should probably choose to keep everything current.
